It was great to be a part of Lake Erie Speedways biggest late model race. The Pro Trucks got to race a 30 lap feature. The bad thing was, there was only seven of us there to race. With a limited practice and no heats, we had to take a guess at a setup for the feature. Starting in the heat and sunshine of the ealy evening, and following over a 100 laps of late model heats, made for an interesting feature. Eric started 5th and for the most of the race had a great battle with the #15 truck for 4th place. In the end, Eric did gain the position, but had his hands full. Eric said, "The truck was really loose, it has never been this loose, coming out of the corners. We talked it over to make changes, which we didn't. I wish we would of, we needed big changes, and now we know for the next time." Our next scheduled race is August 11th, hope to see you there.
color="#FFFF00" size=5px> July 07, 2007A huge crowd of 6,869 was on hand on a beautiful night for racing. Practice sessions went well, making some minor adjustments. Eric started 6th in the heat, and after some great battles, finished 5th. For the feature, Eric started 4th. The racing was hard fought from the start. Eric was pinned on the outside and was just maintaining positions until he could get into a position to race. While making a pass on the back stretch, the #96 truck decided to make it three wide, and while doing so made contact with Eric, forcing him into the truck to his outside. Everyone continued, but Eric received damage to the left front. The damage didn't bother him to much, as he was able to race to a 5th place finish. Eric stated, "I was surprised to get run into on the straight a way like that, but rubbin' is racin'. It knocked the toe out off, so it was a handful to drive after that." Our next race will be July 21st. We'll be a support race for the 200 lap late model MAARA race. After the races, please stop by to say hello. I enjoy meeting and talking with the fans. See you at the races.
After fighting an ill handling truck the week before, the crew worked on several items in hopes of getting the #18 to handle better. Eric started on the pole for the heat race, and found himself in a three truck battle for the lead. After running side by side with the #07 & #96 for several laps, Eric ended up in 3rd at the finish. Eric started 5th for the feature, and moved into 3rd in several laps. He got pinned on the outside and slid back to 7th before coming back up through the pack. Eric said, "It took about 10 laps for my truck to hook up, when it did, it handled very well." Eric got back to 3rd place, then staged a great battle for 2nd. "The #07 truck gave me plenty of room, and we raced each other really hard and clean. I just couldn't get by him, but it was a lot of fun racing him tonight," stated Eric. The July races for the ERM Team will be July 7th & July 21st. Thanks for your support, and see you at the races.
Another great night of weather, and the races were on! One thing with racing, everyone starts at zero at the start of the night. Eric was coming off his first PRO Truck win and wanted to keep moving forward. Eric started on the pole for the heat race. At the drop of the green flag, he slid up into the #07 truck, almost sending both trucks into the wall. Eric stated after the heat, "I picked up on the gas and it wouldn't turn." He finished in the back of the pack with handling issues. The crew worked on the truck, hoping to make it better for the feature. Eric started tenth in the feature. "The truck ran well, but it just wouldn't handle," stated Eric. Despite the ill handling truck, Eric was able to get a 6th place finish at the end of the night. "It was a handful all night. After such a great battle two weeks ago, I feel lucky just to be able to finish the race," stated Eric. Our next race is June 30th, a 35 lap Championship race. Heat races start at 6 pm, and the features start at 7 pm. Hope to see you there!
After what he thought was a hard fought battle for 2nd place, Eric was heading to the pits, when via the one way radio he was told to go to victory lane. "I couldn't believe what I was hearing, then I looked up at the scoreboard and seen I had won," said a very surprised Eric Redmond. From his 5th starting position, Eric quickly pulled into 3rd. "I seen the #37 sportsman car take off from the pole, and get a big lead. I thought I could get a 2nd place finish out of the night," stated Eric. While battling with the 2nd place sportsman car, the leader broke something going down the back stretch. Eric never saw the leader pull off the track. Eric then muscled his way into the lead several laps later. Around the halfway point of the 25 lap feature event, the #22 sportsman car was right on the bumper of the red #18 truck going down the front stretch. Eric said,"He got a fender on the inside of me going into turn #1. I moved up a groove to give him some racing room. When he was still on the inside of me on the next corner, I thought maybe I could run the outside groove and keep it close." Run the outside groove is just what Eric did for the next 10 laps. "Every time I looked in my mirrors, he was right there, many times we would get side by side. I just kept my foot in it, as the truck was working really well on the outside," said Eric. With about 5 laps to go, Eric clipped the wall coming out of turn two. Eric went on to say, "We had a terrible heat race, so to come back and get my first NASCAR Pro Truck win is just awesome. The #22 raced me clean, as I did him. We talked after the race, and both agreed we had plenty of fun out there. We hope the fans enjoyed the battle as much as we did." The win, comes in Eric's 15th start in the Pro Trucks. The next scheduled event for the ERM Team is Saturday, June 23rd. Gates open at 5, heat races start at 6, and the features follow.
As rain was all around the area, it spared Lake Erie Speedway, and it was a great night for racing. All drivers pulled pills to determine starting positions for the heat races. Eric started 6th and finished 4th in his heat. Eric liked the way the truck was running! For the feature, Eric had a great starting position of 3rd. He quickly moved into 2nd and on lap two made a move to take the lead, but failed to make the pass. On the next lap, he drifted to the outside and started to lose positions. Something wasn't right with the red #18. As the checkered flag fell, Eric was in 8th place. Asked what the issue was, Eric stated, "About the 3rd lap I lost my power steering. Most of the time it wasn't working, but once in a while it would grab, almost causing me to wreck." Eric added, " I tried to stay out of the way, and get the best finish I could." Upon inspection it was found an adjusting bolt was missing causing the belt to slip. In closing Eric said, "The truck felt good tonight. I knew I would of had a real good finish. We will make the repair, and try again next week." The team is back in action this Saturday, June 9th. Gates open at 5 pm. See you at the races.
